Guildhall Events awarded Silver Green Meetings Accreditation

Friday, December 2, 2022 - 10:30

Guildhall Events are delighted to have been awarded a Silver Award from Green Meetings.  This formally recognises Guildhall’s sustainable and responsible practices from a globally recognised scheme as an indicator of strong environmentally-friendly practices and as a hallmark of ‘green quality’.

The assessing of applications is conducted by a Green Tourism sustainability expert, qualified to IEMA standards, and in evaluating Guildhall’s work on sustainable and responsible business practices Green Tourism Environment and Sustainability Assessor, Euan Haggart, said: “The team at Guildhall…have shown an outstanding commitment to making meeting and events at their venues as sustainable as possible. It is not always an easy task when dealing with outside contractors and a building of that age and splendour, but the team at Guildhall have demonstrated that with the right policies and practices in place these are no hindrance to running a sustainable business.”  It was also noted that on equality, diversity, & inclusivity Guildhall displayed ‘Excellent commitment to ensuring the Guildhall is welcoming and accessible to all.’

Founded in 1997, Green Tourism is the most popularly adopted sustainability standard, with 2500+ members worldwide.  Based on the three pillars of caring for People, Places, and Planet, the Green Tourism Assessment criteria covers over 70 indicators across 15 sustainability goals. All criteria are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  In 2021 Green Tourism launched the Green Meetings Standard following strong demand for a meetings sector-specific sustainability accreditation. It has since become the label of choice for over 700 leading meetings and events venues.
